Here is a simple guide that will help you to figure out how many boxes you need to pack up your items:
1.5 cubic foot moving boxes or book cartons: These are the smallest and easiest to handle. They are designed and used for small and heavy items like books, DVD’s, canned goods, shoes, etc. It’s recommended not to overload the boxes and to pack similar items together.
3 cubic foot moving box or medium cartons:These are the boxes used for smaller items, such as small tools, appliances, shoes, and clothes.
4.5 cubic foot moving box or large cartons: These boxes are larger and in this way used for lighter items like stuffed toys and pillows.
6 cubic foot box or large cartons: You should use these boxes for the lightest objects. Otherwise it will be difficult to handle them.
Upright cartons: For your special-sized items such as lamps or statues.
Picture / Mirror moving boxes: these boxes are offered in both sizes – large and small, and are specially designed to be customized by telescoping in and out. The corners of each box are reinforced and this makes them perfect for large glasses, mirrors, and pictures which should be secured with bubble wrap.
Boxes for moving dishes or dish barrels: these are the strongest boxes that are the perfect choice for small fragile items, usually dishes, small figurines, etc.
Dish pack boxes: The dish pack boxes are reinforced with cellular inserts in order to form separate cells for the items. They are perfect for china, glassware and crystalware.
Wardrobe boxes: In order to move your clothing wrinkle-free and clean, you should use these “portable closets” in which all your clothes are on hangers.
Mattress covers: Specially designed for mattress in order to protect them from dirt and tearing.
